what to do in an earthquake?

We do NOT recommend the 'triangle of life' - the main theory that it is based on is for buildings that are likely to collapse in an earthquake. NZ has high building codes and our buildings are very unlikely to collapse (the CTV building being a very unfortunate exception). The safest thing to do is to Drop (helps to stop injury from falling), Cover (under a table or similar, or with hands over neck in a 'turtle' - protects body from falling objects) and Hold (so the thing you are under doesn't move away!).

Unfortunately after every earthquake in any country the 'triangle of life' circulates undoing all the good training NZ tries to do!

Please let people know to IGNORE the 'triangle of life'!
